Online Video Lessons
One-on-one lessons using Skype or Google Video
Again and again, Tim's video students comment about how their online lessons are actually better than in-person lessons. Instruments can be played up-close at full-screen, for ultra-clear instruction and review. For those taking voice lessons, the quality is incredibly clear, in both sound and appearance.
Save Travel Costs
Online lessons are particularly useful for travellers, residents of rural areas, kids whose parents are already overloaded with car trips, homeschooled kids, and master-level students who want to study with Tim without travelling to northern California. Skype lessons have been invaluable to many families who otherwise would not be able to spare the valuable time it takes to drive kids to and from lessons.
How It Works
Skype offers easy-to-use free video calling, and Google Chat is also available for those who prefer it. All you need is a webcam. Online lessons are available for guitar, banjo, mandolin, or voice. Rates are the same, and payments are easily made online using the Rates page.
Skype's video calling technology is excellent and very easy to use. You can schedule a free preliminary call to Tim (see the button below) to test the quality of the connection, before committing to lessons.
What you'll need for online lessons:
1) A Webcam ($30 and up) - Webcams are readily available at tech stores like Best Buy, or they can be ordered online. Be sure to get one with a built-in microphone (included in most models).
2) A Skype account (free) - download for free at Skype.com.
